Here are a few features I shot for this week’s issue of The Standard. Plus, I was featured in the Springfield News-Leader this week! Here is a link to the article.

Faith and Football

I was so glad we did a feature this week about Caleb Schaffitzel. He has been dominating on the field over the past few weeks and is a strong man of God.

CalebSchaffitzel

Missouri State sophomore defensive back Caleb Schaffitzel poses for a portrait with a Bible on Friday, Nov. 9, 2012 at Plaster Sports Complex. Schaffitzel was named to the Capital One Academic All-District Team last week, the Missouri Valley Football Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors for the second straight week and earned his second consecutive CFPA National Defensive Back of the Week. He is also an active member of Missouri State’s chapter of Campus Crusade for Christ (Cru) and Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).

His favorite Bible verse is Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Buer, Sophomores Lift Lady Bears

Lady Bear sophomore guard Karly Buer scored a career-high 25 points last Sunday against Illinois State, proving her starting role the past three games.

After a disappointing loss to Southern Illinois last week, who broke a 24-game MVC losing streak that game, coach Nyla Milleson had been searching the bench for a game-changing third scorer.

Along with Buer, sophomores Desiree Phillips and Bry Snow received starting nods, scoring nine points a piece during the 84-70 win over Indiana State.
