Color Me Rad Splatters Springfield

Missouri State University transformed into a moving color collage on Saturday, April 27, 2013 during Springfield’s first Color Me Rad 5K. The race benefits Ozarks Public Television’s K is for Kids initiative, which raises the money needed to acquire and broadcast programs like “Sesame Street,” “Curious George” and “Super Why!”

My camera is still speckled pink, but the assignment was worth braving the rain and color bombs for an hour.

This Week’s Features

It was such a slow week since most of our sports events were cancelled due to the snow storm that came through. That meant I had to scramble to find some sort of art to go in our sports section next Tuesday. On my way back home from photographing the snowy baseball diamond and softball batting practice, I did a double-take as I drove past a giant snow sculpture of a nude female body in front of a frat house. It made for a rather amusing feature to add to this week’s collection!

MSU Hosts Horse Show

Missouri State hosted and competed in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association(IHSA) Stock Seat horse show on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013 at the Darr Agricultural Center.

It was a lot slower than I expected, but I have learned over the years to not go into an assignment and only photograph what I had foreseen. I am not a horse genius, but I was anticipating more action, like a barrel course, but the competition was more about control. Luckily the horses and their riders galloped a few times to break up the monotony.

MSU Closed Due to Dangerous Ice Conditions

Even though I am incredibly glad school was cancelled today because of the ice storm, it really didn’t look that impressive in photos, and it especially didn’t help that nobody was outside. But I totally understand since I spent most of the day catching up on homework and drinking tea in bed.
